The nervous system is adaptable and capable of change, thanks to neuroplasticity.
Research suggests that it takes at least 8 - 12 weeks of regular practice for the nervous system to begin forming new, sustainable pathways.

Simply put, embodiment coaching includes the body.
During our sessions I will bring you back to your body by making you aware of how your body is responding to the challenges and goals you are tackling or working on.
Instead of thinking yourself out of a situation or towards a goal, I guide you to incorporate the body in this process which results in fresh perspectives and ones that literally feel right.
It is through the change of your embodiment, of how you are in your body, of how you are holding yourself, that you are able to overcome challenges and reach your goals.

Nervous system recovery is not a replacement for EMDR or talk therapy or other trauma-informed approaches, especially if these have been prescribed to you by a medical professional.
Nervous system recovery takes a body-based approach to trauma and chronic stress, which means there is little need for talking about what happened and trying to figure out the root cause of why you’re feeling anxious, depressed, hypervigilant, dissociated etc.
We know that your nervous system is trying to keep you safe and because of trauma or chronic stress this sometimes means it is stuck in a state of fight or flight, freeze, faun, or shutdown.
During our sessions we work directly with your nervous system and you will learn when and how to regulate it. Long term this leads to a change in your nervous system thanks to neuroplasticity. This means that your nervous system no longer responds from a place of trauma or chronic stress, but from a place of regulation where it is flexible and dynamic.
-
During our sessions you will map your nervous system and this means you will know exactly what exercises to do when.
What can happen is that in the beginning things can feel a little worse than before while your nervous system is adjusting to this new practice. This is absolutely normal.
If you follow the method that you will learn, you are not harming your nervous system but rather retraining it to move from a point of regulation rather than disregulation.
As it takes between 8 and 12 weeks for new neural pathways to form, it is important to stay with it for the nervous system to fully retrain.

Neuroplasticity makes it possible for us to retrain our nervous system to respond from a place of regulation. It is, however, also the mechanism that allows trauma and chronic stress to change and affect our nervous system.
The good news is that by going through the process of retraining your nervous system you will feel regulated again and you’ll also know what to do when things throw you off.
This method is there to support you long term.

Online sessions are surprisingly effective. I was sceptical in the beginning, especially as my focus is on the body, but it works.
Besides this, working online has many benefits, for example you can be cosy and comfortable in your home. This is especially beneficial if you’re very disregulated and travelling adds that extra bit of stress on top of it. Also, if you happen to travel or are located further away from where I am based, we are still able to connect and continue working together no matter where you are in the world.
